IKDD Mexican Fiesta Fundraiser A Success

SPEEDWAY, IN. (Apr. 29). In the first fundraising event of the year held on March 12, 2012, The Dave Dusick Foundation successfully raised $3,097 to benefit Riley Children’s Hospital. The fundraiser, hosted at Dawson’s on Main in Speedway, Indiana, packed the local establishment, with over 108 people in attendance.

In addition to the donations of the patrons, some members of the waiting staff at the Mexican fiesta-themed event gave their personal tips to the nonprofit entity. All proceeds from the event went to the children’s hospital, the very hospital that helped Founder Dave Dusick win his battle with cancer at just five years old. Now over thirty years later, Dusick and a close circle of friends run the Dave Dusick Foundation, hosting benefits throughout the year to give back to the children’s hospital.

At the conclusion of the event, Dusick presented Riley Children’s Hospital with a check for the funds to continue their efforts. “Words can’t express how grateful I am to the hospital for all they did for me,” said Dusick. “Creating awareness and hosting events like this is the least I can do to thank them, not to mention give other children the same opportunities I was given.”
